Picked up this little gem last week and have all kinds of cool mods planned for it that will begin next year as my budget and time allows.

Was planning on building off a M416 platform, or going all out and starting from scratch, but the price was good, it was local and it gives me a solid head start on things.

The sticker on the tub and frame says 4x4trailers.com
Well that address points me to Tentrax and they dont make trailers like this.
Is this a Sierra trailer from Sierra4x4trailers.com?

Thanks

so the frame looks like the sierra, and the lights /lenses,
the tub looks like a 416 cuz of the tie downs, but those could have been added
the fenders are not the same as the sierra, maybe an earlier version
the lid looks somthing like mine

who ever built it did a nice job,

Emailed Sierra4x4 and got a great email back from a guy called Chris.

This is what he said ...

"Dan,
Actually that is not one of our trailers. We looked at purchasing that company years after they closed. The price was not right for just drawings. Since the design is true and proven shape from the 1940's, we decided just to build our own. The trailers are almost identical, except for our frames are boxed steel and not c-channel. Since 4x4 Trailers is no longer, I would love to see detailed pictures of your trailer to help get ideas of what is out there to perfect our trailer design. If you need any parts or specific items for your trailer, I will be more than happy to help you out since our dimensions are almost the same"

So that answers that question. I guess the folks who built this are no longer in business, which is a shame as its really a tough well built little trailer.
Not to bothered about it being C-channel, as its pretty stout as seen here:

Seems as though they were a few years behind the curve as trailers seem to be all the rage these days - just ask AT ;)
Perhaps thats why they went out of business :meh:

Anyways im looking forward to updating and improving upon it.
Will post up here when the mods begin :bounce:

Yes, your is the LV-416 Explorer with optional top. I think I have a price list from when the club bought it. I will look.

Hi. I was wondering where the others of these are. I have one that's been modified with a rear tire swingout, tailgate, and water tanks underneath. It's a great trailer - very well built. I'm selling mine in favor if getting a teardrop, but they are great for anyone who comes across one.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. Figured there would have been more of these floating around this board.
Post up pics of your modified trailer - I would love to see it

There are about 150 units out here, some are modified some are stock, all are still the best and closest built to the the specs of the government plan for the M416. Most have been sold to the Jeep side of the 4x4 game, as the owner of the 4x4 trailer domain name is an avid jeeper.
