Hello all, sorry for the awful thread title but that's my convoluted question.

Is there a difference in handling between a 2wd and 4wd 4runner? shift points different or.....?

for those that have transitioned from an LC to a 4runner what do you miss with the LC or like better (other than fuel mileage) with the 4runner.

Thoughts, musings, ideas, lessons learned?!!

You're thread is worded in a way that makes it a bit confusing, but here goes.....

I've done the reverse transition from 4Runner to LC. There's no way around the fact that it just won't drive as nicely as your LC. The fit and finish will not be as nice either. The gas mileage is a little better, but only if you go into a less desirable 6 cyl.

I don't think there's going to be much difference at all between a 4wd and 2wd 4Runner as far as handling. It's not all time 4wd, you engage it when needed.

The 03+ 4Runner will have safety improvements over a 99 LC.

I've got an '04 4runner and love it. Gas mileage is better than I expected and I haul three full size adults, not kids. If I were to complain it would be about the front seat. Wish it was better with supporting my arthritic back.

Sorry for the way I worded it. Excellent point on part time 4 wd and on safety.

My 95 and 97 4 runners were good for 100 miles....after that my hip started to hurt.....I think the later generations have better seat height and support but still not the " couch" feel of the 100.

I just have a hard time justifying the prices on a 100 when for a small sacrifice in fit and finish the 4 runner can do the same jobs. I think the fuel mileage, price, and after market support for the 4 runner win the day.

I have a 100 LC, it's great for hauling the extra people and gear I need. If I didn't need the extra space I'd consider the 4Runner or GX as well. They are great trucks.

The 03+ 4Runners while not a cushy as a 100 series are quite a bit better in comfort than the previous Gen 4Runners. Seems like you're making a good choice.

Not sure if/when heated seats came out for the 4Runners, but if they did, pick it up! It's great for the back on long trips.
