Hey guys, anybody know what year 4Runners have the correct backspacing on their wheels to fit a 60 series? (3.5" backspacing)
Or even any other truck that has the correct bs?
I'm going to the wreckers to look for wheels for my 61.
thanks.

First generation (i.e., 84-85) fourrunners came equipped from the factory with wheels with 3.5" backspace. Later generations (86 and up) have IFS and too much backspacing.

awesome. thanks man. is the center bore size the same?

yes

To put it another way, a 1984 4runner w/ chromespoke wagon wheels, has the same wheels as a 1981-1987 FJ60. A 1981-1984ish mini w/ the factory whitespoke wheels has the same wheels a 1981-1984 FJ40. all of these wheels are identical, except for the color.

1985's are still SFA, but did they all get a clunky alloy wheel that year?
Very similar looks to the IFS alloy wheels?

I have never seen a 1985 Runner/Mini with alloy wheels. I know that there are non-USA wheels that were 15s and look similiar to ARE Outlaw IIs but not sure if they made it here to the States.

Well that answers that. They musta got the clunky alloys w/ IFS.

Sorry for the hijack, but I bought a set of fakie beadlocks that were off of an 86 toyota pickup. My question is, will they fit on my 62? I'm not sure of the backspacing, but I tried one rim on the pass. side front. It cleared the caliper without rubbing. I'm sure the rear rims will be fine, right?
