4Runner wiper upgrade...couple questions

I’ve got the 4Runner set of wipers and I just went to 18” blades from 17”.

A world of improvement and Costco had Michelin blades for $8.50 each.

They cover a good portion of the windshield. I’m happy.

I bought a used 97 4Runner wiper arm set off of eBay. I got left and right. Pulled my arms off and bought new caps for the donor arms from amazon.

I ran the 17” blade for a few years and just tried the 18” with good results.

I had the same question I figured the person who first posted the information was smarter than me, so I ran with it. I think the R arm is a littke too long. I do have a few left hand arms from a few older 4 runners which are not part number 5520. I'll post the part # when home.

Just got these on, springs are so strong the wipers barely move! not sure if rain will reduce the friction... anybody need to bend the arms to get these moving?
Spray water on the windshield and see if it helps may need to service the wiper linkage under the cowl

@BMValentine I just put some wiper arms from a *gasp* Pathfinder 2002-2004 X-Terra onto my 62. They fit perfectly and look very much like the 4Runner arms. $10 each at the Pick-n-Pull.[/S]

Did you just use R and L arms off the X-Terra or did you have to find two from the same side like people do with the 4Runners?

Yes, just took the left and right wipers off the wrecked X-Terra. They fit great.

Awesome....wish I read this BEFORE I went to the PNP today. I was just looking at the front seats on a 2002 X-Terra.
