I debated about putting this in the For Sale / Wanted post, but it is a combination of parts and recommendations so I threw it up here.
Anyways, 2000 4runner with 190K miles is starting to slip (auto tran) in 4th gear on hills / hard acceleration only.
I'm pretty much assuming the transmission is simply going out and is going to need a rebuild. I've flushed and new filter and no signs of milkshake.
Seems like a long shot, but if anyone within ~2 hour drive happens to have a transmission they would like to sell me please let me know. I'm in the classic...what do I do...spend the money or just get rid of the car. We really wanted to get it to 200K and then start looking for a 4th gen, but don't quite have our cash ready to buy one quite yet.
I'm fairly confident I'm looking for the A340F model tranny.
Since I'm betting this is a long shot of finding a used one around, does anyone in the Raleigh area have a recommendation on where they would take this to get it looked at and possibly rebuilt?
