I have a 1992 4BD2T that I’ve just finished building a remote oil filter setup for that is similar to the one Doug720 designed. I need help with banjo bolts that attach the steel oil feed line to top of oil filter housing, injection pump, and pump gear cover. Two bolts have large holes and one has smaller holes. I know one of the ones with big holes goes in top of filter housing however I’m not sure if the one with smaller holes goes in the injection pump housing to help maintain oil pressure out to the end of the line (pump gear cover). I can also see where the injection pump would need more oil so maybe it needs to be feed by the bolt with larger holes. Any advice would be appreciated as I don't want to cause pump or gear problems down the road.
Thanks,
Don Ferguson

Don,

I answered this on 4Btswaps also.

The small bolt does feed oil to the injection pump via the hard pipe that connects to the side and front of the housing.

My swap has quite a few pictures around page 9 or so, Follow the link below.

Here are a couple more shots of my set up and how it connected to the IP line and filter head.

So the banjo bolt that has the smaller holes is the one that goes into the injection pump correct? Sorry for being thick.

I printed out all the photos from your link in the past. I built my system to match yours except I used 3/4", 3/8, and 1/4 npt fittings. 3/4" Hydraulic hose is a pain to work with. Hindsight wished I had used what you did. Thanks for taking the time to document what you did. I would not have attempted it without your writeup.

Did you have to use the shorter 5" oil filter to clear the oil feed line from top of filter housing to oil cooler? I really wanted to use the OEM 8" filter but just don't have room.

Don,

Yes the small banjo fitting connects to the hard line on the injection pump. In the first picture above, the fitting with the small SS hose that runs behind the filter head mount goes down the firewall and engine and connects to a fitting I brazed the IP hard pipe.

I use the shorter filter, but the long filter will fit too. I bought 6 of the short ones before I relocated the filter head, but may change back after I use them up.

Glad to help.

Doug

Got it thanks Doug.
