Courtesy of Reid, Amodei and Heller: Merry Christmas folks. They're not our friends when it comes to Wilderness rope-offs. Reid needs to find a new state to represent.

For the record: Heller originally sponsored the bill that included a negotiated deal to provide, by the mining interest, the additional park/theme park infrastructure in Yerington in exchange for approving the copper mine expansion. Then Reid butted his way in and took over by adding the 48,000 acres of new Wilderness area on top of the settled upon deal. This is the first I've seen the actual Wilderness Area geographically defined.

What is the significance of this to wheeling? I tried to read the article for details, but they were too busy trying to sell the deal to their readers for my taste.

Huge tracts of land closed to motor traffic. That is what a "wilderness" designation means. Then they close it to horses and mountain bikes then you need a permit to hike. It's just not safe for people to be in these areas, we disturb the natural balance.

Equine + Wilderness/WSA = Ok access

Mechanized modes (MTB included) + Wilderness/WSA = On approved travel routes only.

The responsibility lies with the user to know the Wilderness/WSA boundaries and/or approved routes in same regardless of signage!

Welcome to the new Henry Reid approved and sanctioned Nevada.
