440F Tranny Lifespan?

Does anyome have any thoughts as to expected life of this transmission? I'm replacing engine in a fj62 with 190,000 miles and wondering if I should doe something about transmission at same time...

Ditch the A440F and go with a H55F! Or get an extreme valve body or complete extreme A440F from slee off road.

Search on tranny flush or Rodney here or on the 3FE list for the dope on Zen and the proper maintenance of the A440F.

The 440 is an excellent tranny. I have seen many with over 200k on them. I have a friend with 280k on one. Not everyone wants to shift anyway.

got a pair of them, one has 350,000 on it, never touched, the other was 250,000........same thing never touched.

Ours went approx 155k before a new torque converter and valve body rebuild - guess it was assembled on a Monday.

Bummer. If I had the cash, I'd buy the top end and put it on my 2F!!
