"Hey big guy, you a golfer" - Roger Dorn
...I thought about this last night after a random conversation with another person that I know. Lately, I have been talking to many different people about their 401(k) accounts at their work. Of course 2008 has not been kind to anyone other than those who happened to be in cash. Even the Harvard endowment, which has been a top performer for over 30 years, has been beaten up pretty bad this year.
Let me preface this by saying that I am only posting this in the GA Cruisers and SoCal 80's sections since you all are my closest friends on mud. I do not want this to come across as anything more than an offer to help...free of charge of course. Most of you know that I am a Financial Advisor in Atlanta with Smith Barney. I have been fortunate enough to be able to work with a team in which I have 9 partners and we manage close to $2 billion in assets. I am only telling you all this so that you know about me as a resource.
So, anyone who would like to talk to me about any of their investments for another opinion or help with a repair strategy to overcome 2008, I am more than happy to take time to review your situation. I have been helping people utilize the investment options in their 401(k) plans to fit their needs as much as possible. Sometimes the easy way out is a target date fund. They can be the best solution for some, but everyone has different needs and a general target date fund may leave opportunity for a shortfall or more risk exposure than neccessary. I do feel that everyone will need to take a hard look at their investments with relation to their goals within the next month or so. 2008 has been brutal but has opened the door for some opportunities in the future.
I really don't intend this to be a commercial at all. I just wanted to offer myself and my team as a confidential, complementary resource. The only catch is that if you are a current Smith Barney client, then I really can't talk much with you...but your advisor sure can (and should).
Feel free to PM me if you need anything.
Thanks to all on this site that have helped me out so much over the years. I truly have some of my closest friends because of the Land Cruiser and this site.
