spotted a 40 for sale just off I44 at the Cuba exit. Is that yours Joe. I just got a quick look at 80 mph but it looked nice. It was the same color as yours. I plan on stopping Sunday evening on my way back to Springfield

The place has 3 Land Cruisers.

He has one tan 76 that he wants $7500 for. About $3k too much. The interior has been rhino lined and is very "globby" not a very good job....said he bought it from someone in Tenn.

He also has a 198x BJ-4x with a flatbed/trayback. It was imported from Australia. Overall it is in good shape but has a 2F transplanted. Has a newly reupholstered interior.....$7500.

He also has a 198x BJ-40 that still has the 3B in it. This is in great shape and he wants $10,900 for it.

Lastly he has a 93 or 94 FJ80......160K miles on the clock. I think he wants something like $6500 for it. No lockers.

I live in Cuba now so I have stopped and looked a few times.

Are they right or left hand drive in Cuba? I can remember which side of the rode Castro drove on.

Lunyou,

Could you swing by at snap a few photo's of the rigs. Not that Cuba's a long way away, but I don't get that direction too much in the fall. or post up the dealer name so I can search their website.

Sure. I could handle that.

The 76 is an American truck normal LHD.

The two Aussie trucks are LHD, he is going to argue with you that the trayback isn't an FJ but there is an outline on the grill where the "diesel" placard used to be.

I don't know when I'll get to the trucks but I will try

EDIT: The place is Iron Gate auto sales. Last I checked he doesn't have a website.

That is the place.....he has about a dozen Jeeps of various age and mod levels.

Okay you wanted pictures here they are.

The first is the Tray-back.....1980.....he said bring cash and he can let it go for $5500. It has the 2F instead of a diesel.

Now for what I see as bad.....Remember it was freezing today so I didn't get on the ground to see the underneath and my hands were too cold to mess around in the engine bay too.

The sill all around the fiberglass cap is going to need replaced.

Okay next is the 75 or 76(can't remember). It can be had for $6000 if you bring cash.

Okay this truck has had some work done. The interior has been Rhinolined(or the equivalent) and the attention to detail leaves something to be desired. It isn't perfect. The seats are nice.

Finally the 1983 BJ40. It still has the diesel and I've been told it runs good. This one is $10,500 and he said the price is likely to stay there for a while.....it is the dealership's owner's personal truck.

With this truck the problems I noticed.....the rust around the bottom of the Right side door I forgot to look but I assume the left door is the same way(by this time I was freezing and could barely feel my fingers let alone think) and the rear taillight is broken. The interior is very close to perfect at quick glimpse and the rear cargo area is carpeted and both jump seats look like the one I took a picture of. Nice truck, I wish I could afford it.

Guys these trucks are still at the dealership.......the management changed and the two women running the place are very tired of these trucks sitting on their lot.

They said to many people come around just wanting to look, and asking questions they don't know the answers too. I tried to educate them a little bit.

I was rereading my post about the trucks(without pictures) the Aussie trucks are RHD.

The tray-back is an HJ-45 but has a 2F transplanted in it for some reason.

Decent looking trucks. Were I not forking over every dollar to Wash U college of medicine right now ( ), I might well be out there doing some wheeling and dealing.

When I got my BJ73, I had the opportunity to get a BJ42 instead. The body was probably a little rougher, but it did have factory PS and lockers. The price was on par with that 40 that lunyou posted pics of.

I'm gonna see if I can make a deal with these guys or if my dad wants to.

I live real close to Wash U. In the loop all the time, haven't seen your rig though.

It's been up there a few times. Lately I've been driving the 4Runner around since the BJ73's injector pump decided it wanted to puke diesel all over the place. I hope to have it fixed this weekend, with some luck.

Phone number? Let me see......

The website says the red one is an FJ-45....technically it isn't. The motor in it is a 2F but the VIN is HJ-45.

They'll likely take $5000 for the 45....heck I'd shoot em a $4500 if you are serious and have cash....they haven't moved a lot of vehicles lately. The brown truck you could likely get for $6000....everytime I see them I make sure they know $7500 is way too much.

Please not that there is likely some rust problems, or bondo in the red truck. There is no seam for the top on the right hand side, making it appear that the top won't come off, when the left hand side has the seam.

Their main claim to money was buying totalled vehicles and fixing them, then pricing them affordable. Well recently with management changing they forgot that most people won't buy a wrecked car at non-wrecked prices.

When I stopped and looked, the only one that had any possibility was the green one. The interior job though is horrible. I think they are way off on the pricing. There are some very decent 40's out there in the 6k range. The truck is going to take tons of work and you can get right hand drive truck in a lot better shape than the black one.

I agree the green/tan one is horrible inside, I have pointed that out to them. The seats are nice, they appear to be from a tacoma. The bedliner appears rolled in and it was done badly. It could be hiding some major issues underneath.

The BJ needs new doors and a new tail light other than that, without climbing under it, it isn't in that bad of condition.

They are all over priced but it's a lot of hassle to bring trucks from NZ or AUS and these trucks have already cleared customs.
