4.88 with ARB ..

That's the link where EL_3grab took the quote from :)

I think El_3grab is asking exactly which parts does he need from the 80 and which parts from the 100 to make this work so he can explain it to his mechanic.

are you talkn about 4.88 with ARB in the rear ??

and what about the front ??

Im little lost

Rear:

100 Locker

93-97 R&P

Front:

Rear Diff. carrier case from
a 93-97 with OEM locker

80 or 100 Locker?

is that right ..

The front can be done easily with a front ARB locker that is made for the 100 and the r&p from an 80 drops right in.

The rear is the one that is more difficult. It requires some parts of an 80 ARB and a 100 ARB plus the r&p from an 80. This has been discussed in a couple other threads. I'll search to see if I can come up with more, hang tight for a bit.

You will need more than that

In order to run the rear 80 series gears in 100 series, additional parts are required. In addition to the gearsets you will need at a minimum the rear carrier from an 80.

done with that .. already bought the RD23 .. so .. if it seems that i need the lower gears .. i will try Custom made one .. :)

I have wanted the end result of lower gearing since 2003 and have watched Marks 4WD adapters bring out low range boxes etc and have been keen to get a low range reduction gear for some time(as calmaridog mentions) It is a much better solution for me I believe. It's too late in the evening to drag out the multiplication for the difference in this change compared to 4.88 gears, but as I recall it is far better than installing 4.88's front and back and you get to use your normal high range ratio on the highway, the best of both worlds. If you guys want to look at it, I am nearly ready to contact them about it, I will ring them and ask the questions about the transfer case with the "V"desigination (possibly meaning viscous coupling) and sus them out on price and availability and a possible group buy if it suit your transfer case! I am keen, I just have had other thngs to do and it was down on the list, I will follow it up if you want, no rush, but I will get and post the information available.

yeah .. Anthony (marks4wd@ozemail.com.au) .. really a nice guy .. he answered all my question and my concern about my swapping engine and trans (look at my signature) in the end we all agreed that he will make a custom adapter to fit the TH400 to my Transfer Case ..

now i'm interested in more stiffer gears for my T-case .. so that it can handle torque and speed when engaged above 60mph+ ..

so .. he is the right guy .. if you want .. lower T-Case gears or diff- or anything custom fit .. ;)

rd23 is not correct. The front should still use the rd92 that it calls for otherwise it wont be able to retain your ifs axles, and uses different carrier bearings. The REAR diff is where you need a carrier to suit 97 and older but you need to install the 32 spline side gears. If you are using an arb you will either need both rear arb's or the 97 and older arb, dissassemble it, machine out id of carrier bearing journal, and install 32 spline side gears.

yes .. just like i said .. im done with the idea of having 4.88 .. so i bought the rd23 .. :)

rd23

yes, but unless you have a solid-axle frontend the rd23 is wrong. You need the rd 92 (the front doesnt matter if it is stock gears or aftermarket, as they are the same.)
