Ok do I am thinking of buying a used 4.5 for my LC, and building it. Thoughts opinions, ideas? Is it worth the time and effort, does anyone have any ideas of ways to build them?

My thoughts on this were as follows: buy a good used motor (milagr doesn't matter) and do a little here and there starting with a complete overhaul and clean
Then as time goes on build it, thinking maybe port and polish put on headers remove emissions stuff I can do over time one project her and there
And then when I'm finished building it or my stock motor gives out ( which ever happens first, I have a direct bolt in motor, that's basically plug and play and that way I'm only without a vehicle for a day or two and not a week or more!

Again thoughts opinions ideas? I'm open to all suggestions all comments and thoughts welcomed
I know this seems like a big undertaking but that's why I figured if not, it's alwAys good to have a restored stock motor to go back in if something happens to mine or a tuned up one

Thank you for your time and comments

Personally. I think the idea is awesome, especially since you can get the engine cheap.
I honestly wouldn't concern myself with "performance" gains more than just completely overhauling with the new designed head gasket. Obviously remove all the EGR crap.
But yeah, if I had an 80 that i wanted to keep a LONG time then this is a great option IMO.

Will this work ok on an OBDII engine?

yep. you put a 1k ohm resister in the plug to make the ECU think it's still there...
