Has anyone removed this? I don’t see a reason to remove it other than to repurpose the hole and retractor mounting bracket to mount something else. Maybe install a light there?

I’m going to leave it unless there is something cool to do with the hole.

Good info at the end of this recent thread.

I have removed it, and no there isn't a great reason to take it out, although I like your idea of a location for a light.

I wonder if the Heritage addition has a cover plate for the hole as it wouldn't have the seat belt or if it has a rear panel w/o the hole. Anyone know? (paging @Eric Sarjeant ).

Yes, I am sure the HE is a different part # and can be done. I priced the wheel well covers for a customer and it was like $2500. Toyota is making it very hard to do exactly this type stuff to preserve the HE "brand". Same with TRD Pro and Trail Teams FJ.

Eric I’m talking about the shoulder strap in the ceiling by the upper tail gait hatch not the wheel well covers. Is the whole ceiling liner different ( ie no hole for the seat belt)?

Yeah yeah, I hear you. I'll check, but I bet it's a whole new head liner. Stay tuned
