Does anyone have the applicator gun for the 3m schutz products? I am going to line the lower part of my 80, and I would rather borrow or buy someone else's used gun.

If I dont hear from anyone in a few days I'll order the gun and then keep it around if anyone else ever needs to borrow it yall can let me know.

the one at harbor freight is supposed to work well too. I don't know the cost difference.

I actually checked out the harbor freight site and didn't see anything that worked with schutz. Which gun do you have in mind? Isn't there a store in bham? I'll check it out Saturday.

I think what will matter most is the nozzle size/shape. Whether it is vacuum or gravity feed should not affect the application of the gun.

Thanks, I trust what you say over what ever they might tell me at the store, Ill pick one up saturday.

any tips or tricks for applying schutz?

The 3m site says its "not paintable" but have yall ever had trouble getting paint to stick to it? I have a feeling they mean you can't mix color in with it, like you can with rocker schutz.

but you are lining the exterior of your fenders with it or undercoating? I think that is a rubberized undercoating, it can't be painted because it doesn't really harden and so the paint would crack.

If you are doing your fenders I would look at the u-pol raptor kit that comes with the spray gun included.

Well, I guess I was wrong. Your question on paint was answered in that thread too. I would just order the 3m gun when you order the schutz.

I saw "After the Schutz fully dried we painted over it with black Automotive paint to keep it from Greying out over time."

I was wondering if since it was done there had been any problems with it staying painted. I know I have painted things before just to have the paint start to fall off later for no apparent reason. I want to mask and tape and spray once and be able to forget about it for a couple of years.

After doing many a project and trucks in a multitude of coatings.... Nothing compares to my LineX bedliner in the Tundra... (It came that way)
I realize it's more expensive and someone would need to do it... but you get what you pay for.
I did the Tundra's bumpers with leftover uPol and it's already flaking off the chrome, that we even prepped...

gun came yesterday.
paint came today.

I hope I can do it this weekend, but Ill need a garage/shop/paint booth to commandeer for at least 48 hours.

My "paint" that was delivered was a gallon of silicone sealant. Tomorrow will be an exciting day of talking to customer service to figure out how my invoice can be correct but the contents of my package are wrong.

This stuff doesn't go very far.... I figured out while cleaning up that you can add a lot of thinner and still get a really good coat. I burned through 2.5 quarts on just the bottom. I'll cut it by a 1/3 or a 1/4 to do the top. I had planned on doing the insides of the doors but I am just going to use some rattle can truck coating there. It also blew out some of my jb weld hole filler. I'll have to figure out a better way to plug the holes left from the fenders.
