Hey Guys,
I was working under the hood the other day and I noticed there was a small puddle of coolant sitting on top of the water pump. I checked the coolant lines above the pump and they seemed dry and the clamps were tight. The gasket around the top of the pump was pretty saturated so I am mostly convinced this is the source of the leak. Once I replace the gasket should I replace the pump? I am at about 360,000Km's should I be thinking of replacing the pump? The leak really isn't bad so it’s patched for the moment with silicon. Also will any 3b water pump work of my 86 BJ70? Oh yeah any one got part numbers for these?

Thanks
-Noah

I've been having trouble posting to DTLC I think its from my side but just wondering any one else?

Yes any 3B water pump will do. They are quite inexpensive (relatively speaking) at around $125 Cdn. The real hassle is the scraped up knuckes from working around the fan shroud.

I would replace it if I were you, mine went at around the same time.

I would also replace the fanclutch and some hoses, especially the lower radiator hose. I think someone from DTLC mentioned that the hose from 87 Ford F150 with 302 will work with a bit of twicking. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

I don't bother replacing the hoses unless they fail. I've lost a total of one OEM hose in 15 years and 300,000kM! I carry a spare of the upper and lower rad hoses in the truck and the rest are easily substituted with regular bulk hose in a pinch.
