Well I spent most of the day harassing junk yards and Hino in search of a more affordable turbo solution. The guys at Hino told me that they do not have anything in a smaller turbo, the only one that comes close is a Garrett (can't remember the model) that outputs 15-25 pounds and is for an engine with 400 compression or more. As for manifolds they don't have anything that will work (so they say). He has had guys with Cruisers in there before buying some of the smaller 4 Cylinder motors and with some adapters they fit in and work but the only thing is the Hino motors are all steel and heavier then the 3Bs.
At Ralphs I was able to find a less then helpful guy who showed me their selection of stuff on the shelve and told me they go for around $400 - for a unit that's used and could last from 5 minutes to 5 years. They have a limited stock of various turbos some should do but I'm not going to risk it.
I was able to find out about a place locally in Surrey:

I will call them on monday - I was told by a friend that the online prices are definitely negotiable.
If any one has 2 cents they want to drop in....

Hello and welcome.

There is a lot of information on board if you search.
Do a search in the "Diesel and 24 volt tech" section a few people have done it.

I have been told a turbo off a gas engine of around 2.5 liters works well.
If I can remember correctly, ones to look at are off a Chrysler LeBaron or Laser.
By the way, you should be able to buy a used Lebaron turbo for around $100. I would take it in and have it rebuilt right away. Try and find one with no free play in the bearings.

Another option would be a turbo and manifold off a 13-BT. There are some people who bring in half cut trucks for parts. You could look at that route. Try gscruiserparts.com. They are loacted in abbotsford.

If you want to buy a out of the box and bolt on kit, I would recommend the AXT.
I have been in a BJ60 with that turbo. The power was great, and it is minimal hassle if you have the money.

Cheers,
Nick

PS. I am sure I can speak for all of us, when I say, we would love to see some pics.

Thanks for the info, I have already looked at the AXT route and regrettably I don't have $3000 (wish I did). I will look at the mentioned turbos, also a friend told me about the Eagle Talon turbos as well.
As for pics? of my truck?

I can only suggest you look in the diesel tech forum and search the words turbo. It's been discussed many times. Lots of ideas in there.

Go there and see. It's a topic that is super common.

You can build your own kit, expect about 500 - 1000 if you buy decent parts. If you flip your old manifold over, weld a plate on the top for a garrett, get a labaron turbo and slap it on, probably a few hundred bucks.

But you can also buy a rebuilt garrett for around 500 bucks. I went junk yard.

But go over to the diesel section and search. All the info is there.
