Because there isn't an 82C model listed for 3B's around my year (1985). I checked 60 and 70 series in the epc, couldn't find one.

I have an 88C on order at the stealership now tho.

huh? I have an 85 and put in 82c... do you want me to get you the part #? I believe they are all the same anyway

88c is the correct temp , 82 is fine also , but the hotter (with correct oils etc) is better.
Fine line between temp and efficiency..

Once again I find a thread that answers my questions in detail. Lostmarbles detail. Truly helpful.

On the left is the 82C unit that was in my 42. Since I got her back on the road a month ago I have been suffering and complaining about the lack of heat. Local temps have been -10C to +15C and with the winter front down the engine would only pass the "cold" mark when at highway speeds. Very cold rush hour commutes where I could only hit 70Km/h. I know the 3B runs "cooler" than a 2F but there had to be something wrong.

On the right is the unit I bought for the engine rebuild on my BJ45 conversion. Got it at 4Wheel Auto.

My fellow RMCLA members said right off the mark,"check the thermostat". Procrastination is a bitch.
