Hey everybody! I will be coming through raleigh in late april and picking up a set of wheels and tires from Johnny. I'm looking for a place in the area to have them balanced, or mounted and balanced. They will be primarily used for road travel and I need them to ride smooth. Also I don't wanna rely on beads for this set. Let me know what you can. I'll also be working on Burt a little at Johnny's house April 18-19 so all are welcome to come by to help, or just watch and drink beer.

Don't waste your money. Use Airsoft pellets instead. I've used them for 2 sets of Swampers and have them in my XML's now. I refer to the Dynabead website for estimated ounces, I added a couple ounces to each wheel as advised to help compensate for the bigger tires having greater variances as well as the possibility of losing/chunking off a piece of rubber on rough trails. Drove 35X10.50 Swampers to CO, UT, NM and AZ towing my ExPed trailer without issues...

So you're coming the 18th?

I don't have mine balanced and they work just fine. I thought they were causing a vibe, but it turned out to be the wheel bearings,

Maybe 4wheelparts?

if you want to take them somewhere find a big truck tire location..... By far the best, we did many very large tires for folks on mud and NC4x4 when they couldn't get it done anywhere else. Internal is the way to go and air soft is a good option. I used golf balls in mine when I mounted them years ago.

don't go to 4wheel parts they are terrible at mounting an balancing. The good thing about our charlotte 4wheel parts location is they knew it so everything over a 35" tire they would send our way.

Agreed find a large truck corp.

Discount here stinks but each is different. And now they have some new corp rules to follow. I have wondered about roadforce balancing. You would have to find a shop that had the machine and it cost twice as much so I would only consider on a road only set as its expensive to be redoing if you will occasionally wheel them.

Or head to sams/costcofor a couple cases :D

But air soft or dynabeads may be worth reconsidering though you said you don't wan to rely on beads.

Mounting is not the issue, it's balancing. Mounting can be done at home.

Although Johnny, having them mounted makes life a little easier. And whoever can mount them can probably balance them too. I'm certainly considering the bead balancing method now after all of your opinions. I'm absolutely gonna use them inside those beat up swampers I currently have cause those things are chewed up pretty bad. The 37s are gonna get some light trail use but are mainly for the highway though. I don't think I'll go as far as golf balls though Al. That seems like a bit much. Just a little.

Tires will be mounted before you get here.

Logan used BB's in the military tires he had. I'm not sure how well that worked out but said he could here them at stop lights.

Let me know if you are coming near Albemarle; could be dinner and beer for ya!

Mike I better see you...
