Had one under my FJ62, have one under my pickup right now. No issues.

Sadly, at least on my truck the answer is no it doesn't fit. Well it fits but would be resting against the exhaust which strikes me as unadvisable. What do people use to make the tire stand up against the window in the cargo area?

Well I could. My first thought was that vertical would give me more usable cargo space.
