Hey fellas

I am new here and I wanted to ask the locals about my ideas. I am wanting a 4" lift 35 to 37 tires and a 3 link up front. I am just not impressed w/ factory lower links or radius arms. it just is to restricting and that is 6" to hang up on. I am thinking of going over the axel w/ johnny joints and tubing back to the frame close to where the factory mounts are, and connecting to the inside of the frame to the diff. also w/ johnny joints. :hhmm: I have read some where that I would need to go 6" for me to do this but not positive, would rather not go so high. This may need to be in the hard core corner but yall seem pretty smart.:D Not sure about the sway bar:meh: I would like to keep.
I have an 80 by the way

oh boy...... welcome to the 80's. They do a lot really well, just not everything and front end flex is one of those things.

There is a lot of info out there, I cant spit facts out but would suggest looking at
Dusty's hardcore build
Jodo's ROTW thread he used jeep JK long arm kit in sort of a Y link setup
and actionjacksons old thread about 3 linking

there is a lot of info out there, but not too many that have taken it there

(you could just pull the front driver control arm bolt and replace it w/ a hitch pin for now)
ala poor man's three link........... just sayin
might wheel it a bit to see how limiting this factor is before chopping it up, but when you get it figured out right I might be up for the beta run :D

Three that have done this that come to mind are
clownmidget
action jackson
Dusty (being the best one since it now sits on a D60 front and a 14bt rear)
None of them were really happy with the on road manners of this set up. With more R and D I think a kit could be made that would improve on this as other rigs that are 3 linked drive fine on the road.

There is also Jodos long arm build which is what I would do if I had the time to think about doing this.
Actually i've thought about this a lot but my engine swap is going to happen first.

Thanks for the feed back. I have seen actionjacksons build and I emailed him the other day. He had about 7" of lift. He said that it was too high for safe high way turns. He said 4 would be a good heigth Ill check with the other fellas. just researching right now but hoping that it wont be to long before I start building.
