Im looking for help from some of the FJ brothers.

Im looking at putting on a 3" lift on a friends FJ. Is the appropriate tire for this lift a 315-75r16 35" tire - any rubbing issues?

Also, what are the thoughts on the repalcement upper control arms to adjsut for Caster? I would like to do this right and was interested on the control arm feedback.

THanks!

You will rub the body mount as well as other places depending how hard one wheels it. This is assuming stock wheel specs are retained.

I think the best tire for the FJC is 255/85/16 but that's just me. I feel that 35's without regearing is manageable but underpowered and problematic when driving on cruise control.

I didn't have to go with aftermarket UCA's to get my alignment in factory spec, but did go with them eventually...

thats funny this thread just got started... i JUST installed toytec's 3" unlimate lift and all pro UCA's. I drove around for a week before i installed the UCA's. fj seemed REALLY light in the front.. any little movement in the steering wheel and u'd notice it big time.. def had to work on keepin it from wonderin. Without the UCA's it is possible to get it WITH IN factory specs but not spot on to what they should be.

I just got the UCA's done yesterday and man... night and day different. What really suprised me was how much less body roll there is... huge difference in handling. i'd def recommend goin with UCA's, esp if you're lifting your rig. They aren't cheap but they're worth it i think..

315's will rub on the stock upper control arms when you turn. Aftermarket UCA's will correct both the rubbing and the caster/camber. I run the ToyTec / Light Racing adjustables and have been happy with them.
