If being broke can't be any worse right now....

So I bought this 4Runner about a year and a half ago. It took me about 5 years of begging the owner to finally give it up. 1996 V6 3.4 manual 4x4 rear diff lock leather interior trd supercharger, headers... blah blah blah...

Well before I got it cylinder #5 exhaust valve went out. He's a good family friend who is rather well off said he would have it taken care of before he sold me the car. So the car got both heads machined and installed. It seemed to run a little warm about 3 thousand miles in. I always just ran the heater loop on so it would stay cool. Only on the freeway would the temp increase. No sweat. Bought the car with 179k it now has 186k on it. Go to start it after it sat for a while and.....

AWESOME white smoke like a magical place I once dreamed of yes folks it's coolant.

Anyone think the shop that did the job is going to back the job a little? I mean less then 10k on the job... It was 1800 dollars.... I just hate this right now yes I know i'm venting.

Options..

Do it myself...
Take it to the shop that did it for a deal hopefully...
Let it sit and cry about it...

What are the chances of the block being cracked on a 3.4?

after a year and a half? I doubt the shop is going to help out - I know that I wouldn't...

pull the plugs and see what side it is on - maybe it is on #5. It never hurts to ask the shop, but don't get your hopes up.

Fix it yourself...being broke isn't cheap.

Re-order your ideas

1. Cry about it

2. go to shop and talk to them about fixing it, or supplying parts for you to do it yourself

3. be happy its fixed OR Cry about it and proceed to step 4.

4. Fix it yourself

5. Drive your sweet runner.

I like the ideas. ;)

Ya we'll see where this goes. Just needed to vent about this thing being a money pit.

Update to come in the next few days.

You positive its coolant? Have you done a pressure test? Slim chance but there are a couple things that can cause white smoke that are'nt coolant.
