Hi i own a 1996 toyota t100 2wd n i was wondering how difficult it would be to make it 4wd thanks for all responses.

Pretty difficult.

You'd be better off to find a T-100 4wd and buy or trade for it.

I suppose you could find a wrecked 4wd T-100 and go through the parts conversion.

Things that'll need to be changed.

transmission
transfer case
skidplate/crossmember
rear driveshaft
speedometer cable?

THings that'll need to be added

Front differential assembly
Shifter for transfer case
controls for front hubs, unless you're going to do manual hubs.

Anything can be done, it just depends how much time and money you want to put in it.

Kelley Blue Book estimates a 1996 T-100 4wd to be worth between $3500 and $5800 depending on condition, options and mileage. You could pretty easily spend more than that on a conversion.

Free advice may be worth exactly what you paid.....Nothing.

LukeZero makes good sense, but aside from the tranny issues it wouldn't be alot different from a solid axle swap on an IFS truck.

The biggest question is what are you looking to build? Hardcore, solid axle, rock crawler? Or an IFS, play in the dirt, drive to work, maybe see a little snow kinda wheeling?

What are your skills? Can you build it yourself or will you pay somebody else? If you plan to pay somebody else and just want IFS, then I think you are better off to buy a 4x4 truck. If you can wrench, cut and weld and you consider your own labor to be free, then a solid axle might be for you.

I agree with the above posts. If you're wanting a solid front axle, then go for it. But if not, sell it and buy a 4x4.
