If by split case you mean the case behind a FJ-60/62 then no, I don't believe that it will bolt up. I've not personally confirmed but my understanding is that while the A440 was used in both the 62 and 80 the output shaft is different.

2UZ motor(pref non-vvti and non-DBW for simplicity)
A343 trans. I do not recommend using the A440/A442 series and would require an adatper. The A434 should bolt right up with the correct bellhousing/torque converter combo.
stock t-case will do
Motor will always need to be moved forward. The engine bay was set up for an I6 so the tunnel concaves back in the middle. The V8 can't sit back that far so it has to come forward 4" or so.
Stock radiator will work, and misc hoses for radiator and heater.
Custom engine mouts

custom exhaust
custom a/c lines
custom power steering lines
And of course A LOT OF WORK!!!
Some Pre-vvti came with DBW, but I am not sure what criteria was required for that.
Okay first off I'm not sorry for digging up an old thread because I need some answers to some questions.
Second I drive a 94 FZJ80 and I've looked at swapping a diesel but due to emissions red-tape and discovering this thread I'm going to reconsider a 2UZ swap.
In the above quote it says to get a 343 transmission however the thread owner used an A750F so which one is it then? If the A750F does not need a custom crossmember then wouldn't that be the way to go? Any thoughts on if the crossmember for a A442 would suffice for the A750?
From what I read if a guy takes the Christo route then he'd need to buy a wrecked 100 (98 - 2002) and use the engine, tranny, ecu and wiring. If the engine was bad then pretty much any 2UZ would suffice.
If we take the route of the thread owner then It'd be buy a 2UZ, buy a A750F with Ecu and wiring.
Both require custom exaust.

Picked up a 91 FJ80 last night with a broken motor. Turns out the crankshaft broke between #1 and #2.
I decided to drop in the 2UZFE VVTi v8 motor with stock auto transmission.
Here is my progress
I project 2 months to completion since my time out in the garage is limited
Day 1: - pull motor
Lets just say, the 3F motor is one of the harder engines to pull. I would hate to put this heavy hunk of iron back in. It would have made things a bit easier if Toyota would have made a two piece fan shroud! Took me about 3 1/2 hours to get the thing out of there, and by my standard, that was way too long. I did spend a bit of timing removing components I won't be needing anymore.
