2nd row seat won't latch

The driver side section of my second row seat will no longer latch/lock down. When I tilt the seat down toward the floor, the latch nearest the door does not rotate into the down/open position so that it can engage the floor pin. The far side latch works fine. I don't know if the mechanism is broken that causes it to rotate open, or if it's just jammed into a closed position. I've tried "encouraging" it with a big screwdriver and pulling on it with some vice grips, but no go so far.

Any ideas?

There is a solid rod that engages its movement. Pull the seat bottom off and have a look. I bet it popped off an end.

Thanks for the quick reply. I checked it out again and found that there is a rod connected to the base of the hinge. It's been pinched off just above the base. It looks like a fairly substantial job getting the bottom/back off the seat. Any tips for that??

It's pretty easy, look around all the edges and there will be little Phillips screws. Remove those and finagle it off.

That's what I think I remember from when I did the new leather.
