Anyone up for a run to Cleghorn or 2N17X or both this weekend?

This is a shot of a TJ trying to make it up the hard part of 2N17X. This rig had to be winched up. There is a bypass for this part. If you aren't familiar with 2N17X it runs from the spillway at Silverwood lake along the ridge. Great views. It's a short run, can be done in a couple hours. Not a lot of rocks, but alot of steep climbs and dirt moguls with some off camber spots. At the top there is an area with some rocks to play on. If that's your thing. The spot in the picture here is where several rigs have rolled over recently. But as I said there is a bypass, so there is no need to risk anything. Cleghorn is close by as well. The terain for Cleghorn is the same as mentioned above, just on the other side of Silverwood lake.

We'll be in Pismo.

I've ran all of that both directions about 20 times. One of my favorites. Have fun and BE CAREFUL! My buddy rolled his rig and totalled it on that obstacle a few years ago! If it doesnt make it up on the first try, back down and try again. Don't force it with heavy throttle, you don't want to get out of shape towards the top. It could be a difference of a few inches in your line that makes the difference.

Damn I am out in kansas sweating my ass off or else I would love to go. Sounds fun. Are the off camber spots along a cliff?I'm not too keen on those obstacles for obvious reasons.

IIRC, no. The thing you have to be carefull of is rolling over backwards on the accent in the picture. All of the other accents aren't that bad. And actually, that one is not that hard for the longer wheelbase vehicles, like 80's.

There has been a change of plans. I will be going to Calico instead. I will be running Doran loop with another TJ. If anyone want's to join us by all means post up. We will be leaving Costa Mesa at 7:00 Sunday morning. It;s going to be hot but who cares.

Won't be able to make it. My family is down here visiting. Have fun and can't wait to see those pics.

Where exactly is Calico? How far up the 15? I wanna wheel this weekend but I'm thinking Cleveland national forest..

It's about 8 miles past Barstow, where the 15 and the 40 intersect. Do you have slider's? For this trail you will need them.

No I don't have them yet. I'm hoping by fall to get a set of Metal Tech sliders. Thanks for the reply and the warning. Another time hopefully. I wanna get out to meet everyone.

Ah, we ended up going to Big Bear. John Bull and Holcomb creek. We saw the forcast for Barstow and "Just said no". BB was fantastic. It never got hoter than 85, and it didn't get there till mid day. The morning was absolutly beautiful wheelin weather.
