I have a 1984 HJ60 with a 2H motor. I want to replace the starter solenoid contacts. Does someone know which ones are correct for this starter. I have the 10mm holes...that I know. What I don't know is the proper shape, because currently my starter has two different shapes. There seem to be many options for these contacts. Anyone know the correct ones??? On this site Starter Solenoid Contacts for Nippondenso Starters I see several options.

Those look identical to (or at least 100% compatible with) the ones I got in this kit on Amazon. Having used the kit, and seen what the old contacts looked like in my original starter and the core I ended up actually rebuilding, I'm sure any kit for a Nippon Denso starter is going to have contacts (and probably a plunger) that work with your starter, and it's pretty hard to screw up 'chunk of copper with a right angle and a square hole,' so I expect there isn't going to be any meaningful quality difference between 'real' ND parts and knock-off brands. The plunger could be better in a genuine OEM set, since it has to fit in a particular sized hole in the solenoid, but the one I got works perfectly with the contacts it came with.

Thanks.... I might just have to order a set and hope for the best. Since the site had multiple starter outputs, I was hoping to get the right ones....but I don't know the output of the starter for a 2H. Do you know?

Those are worn out. You can use the larger size that shows on the left on both sides. The smaller size
look like they are arcing pretty bad. When you replace them make sure you push down hard on the plunger
at the same time tightening the side nuts. What happens is the contacts rotate slightly as you tighten them and
don't make a flat contact on the start sequence. If you get a new plunger with a new spring this might help
stop this from happening again. Just make sure the new contacts get tightened flat to the plunger contact.

Ok, thanks

OK, put the new contacts in yesterday------now it cranks great, but won't actually start??? What happened? Any ideas? I'm confused.
