Hello All!

I was wondering if the 285/75r16 tires can be fitted with 16mm snowchains or if that would hit something?

Looking at the car it looks like the front is a no-go, but it might be okay on the rears?

cheers

Not on the front. To run chains on my 98 LX with stock wheels with that tire I have to use spacers and have the AHC in hi mode. The they are ok on the back.

Awesome, thanks!

Looks like I should’ve bought a set of proper winter tires for our upcomming trip in the Alps.. hope we’ll luck it out on the ko2’s and chains on the back (if they fit, haven’t yet tested as they’re only arriving later today), but last time I’ve hit an icepatch with the ko2’s, we almost wrecked the car, so I’m a bit scared now. We’re leaving tomorrow, so there is nothing left to do.

If you don't have spacers or offset wheels there isn't enough room between the upper control arms and the tires for chains.

I understand that the front wheels are out of bussiness (first post). I’m wondering about the rears really

99LC no ACH, I have RUD snow chains and have run them in the rear (low speeds/offroad) and in the front with spidertrax 1.25 spacers.

I have used mud/snow chains on LT265/75-16 tires and they were fine. But these are for slow speeds and digging through snow, not for highway travel.
