I am guessing possibly more important than the diameter of the tire is the width of the tire? I know I ran 33x 9.5 on my old fj60 stock with no lift with no problems, but most guys were trying 33x12.5 and needed a 3 inch lift. In my opinion tall skinny tires are damn good performing tires and look better than short fat tires that stick out too far. I think BFG MT KM2 255/85R/16 or 255/80R/17 would be a good choice.
