Hello everyone.

I have 2002 LX470 and I'm trying to get new 18" rim with 285/65/18.

but what my tire guy says is I should go with 285/60/18.

Anybody having success with 285/65/18 here please? He said they almost 0.9" height difference and I might get rubbing if I go with 285/65/18.

Thanks in advance. Cheers:cheers:

This post says the 285/65R18 tires should fit:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/100-series-cruisers/48057-285-65r18.html

However, I would also like somebody to positively confirm that P285/65R18s on the Tundra rims will fit on my stock 2000 cruiser without any problems, modifications, or spacers on the wheels.

If this is the case, I think I am gonna buy these winter tires:

Toyota OEM 18" Tundra ( 5 lug) rims painted black with P285/65R18 Hankook iPike Studded Snows 1/2 season on them

Will the P285/65R18 tires rub on the control arms or wheel wells?
Will any 5-lug Tundra 18" rims fit on my cruiser?
Are there differences in backspacing depending on the year of the Tundra?

Any advice re: P285/65R18s on Tundra rims will be appreciated.

According to the information in the faq section for the 100 it says 285 65 18 is the biggest you can fit without any rubbing. I have a set sitting in my garage that I plan to put on so unfortunately have no real world data as of right now.

thanks. I am going to put 285/65/18 Nitto Terra Grappler this weekend and I will let you know how it goes. Cheers.

I am running 285/65R18 Nitto Trail Grapplers on 18 steel 2011 Tundra wheels on a 2006 LX with no rub. These Tundra wheels are the same bolt pattern and offset as the OEM.

Not sure I've had it fully articulated with this setup but have had zero issues, aside from a drop in MPG due to the massive weight of these things. But I recycle so my conscience stays clear.

thanks for the info DJKCPA. how is ride and feel on highway? I was thinking about Train Grapppler but I am changing my mind to Terra Grappler that has supposedly smoother ride than yours according to Nitto.

Anyway I would appreciate your feedback. Cheers:clap::clap:

Also, do you have an LC or an LX? Do you have AHC? If so, have you checked the tolerances in AHC Low mode?

There are a lot of topics on this specifically, but I haven't seen any that confirm max tire size compatibility with AHC low.

There is a little rumble from 0-5 mph but after that they are quite smooth considering they look like tractor tires. I noticed this the most when slowing to a stop on pavement. But I switched to these from Michelin LTX M/S2s which are incredibly quiet so there was definitely an adjustment period. At highway speeds they "sing" a little but it isn't disturbing in any way. I would be interested to compare them to Terra Grapplers. A friend has Terras on his Tundra and they are nice but that's an apples to oranges vehicle comparison.

The Trail Grapplers are great out here in the desert. I really don't think you can go wrong with these trucks though. I was doing some pretty heavy wheeling with the Michelins and aside from slipping and frequent sidewall shredding (discount tire road hazard certificates are priceless) the LX was extremely capable.

2006 LX with AHC. There is no rub even at full lock with AHC in low. I honestly had never driven it in low until you asked this. It feels unsteady to me in low and my understanding is that you are riding on the bump stops. I wouldn't want to go outside my neighborhood with it in low.

Either way, no rub on my LX even in low.

here are some pictures. I'm happy to report you folks that 285-65-18 Nitto Terra Grappler has no major rubbing issues at all. Ride is acceptable although it's definitely noisier than stock set(still acceptable;)). Thanks a lot!!:clap:

What width and offset would the wheels be? Looking at the Addicts for my Cruiser. Thanks.

I run that exact size in the NITTO Trail Grapplers....on 18" rims. I ran them with no lift and never had issue....then tore out AHC and run them with my Ironman lift and even better.

I haven't had any issue with my AHC. But thanks for the info.:clap:
