Hey guys,

I am really interested in staying with a 33" tire when I get a OME 2.5" lift.

I have run BFG A/T KO's on my past two trucks that I have owned and loved the highway manners, and they were able to do most wheeling that I had tackled. Note: I do tow a boat during the summer.

I am not a fan of "overly wide" tires, which in my opinion would be the 315/75/16's. So those are out.

So I am left with the 285/75/16's, which I have read all about and found tons of pictures of... if I went that route I would stay with the BFG A/T KO's. Those look like a good tire proportional to the height/width of the truck. But... I am also up for trying more of the "pizza cutter" look on the truck.

My questions are:

1.) Can someone who has switched from the BFG A/T KO's to the BFG MT KM2's comment on the road manners of the KM2? I am concerned with road noise and handling of ice in the winter.

2.)I have only found a couple threads /pictures , but I would love to see some pictures of KM2's in 255/85/16 on a truck with flares still attached and a 2.5" lift.

Thanks in advance

Anyone have pics of the 255/85 with flares on still?

Here ya go

Been running it for years, love the combo. This is with the m/t still on, my new KM2's ride about the same but less road noise. Just got them, so can't speak to inclement weather. I'm running OME heavies, with allot of gear in the rear. image.webp

255/85 KM2, no lift.
Been happy with them, they were only slightly louder than the street tires I got with it. I don't have a lot of experience but have been told that wheeling in this area necessitates an MT.
My setup did well at DTOR.

Rybones - you are pretty close. I am in Cincinnati.
Do the KM2's handle the rain and slush/wintery mix we get around here pretty well?

The AT KO's have siping.... so if I go the KM2 route I would consider getting the center lugs siped.

Also not to be a PITA... but do you have a head on shot from the front? I am curious how much room is left with the flares on.

The KM2 is not a noisy tire, considering how knobby it is. It's really knobby, and really quiet for a knobby tire. But it's knobby, and there is noticeable road noise at highway speeds. Not objectionable, but definitely noticeable.

I put up with the noise because the performance off pavement is awesome. From sand at the dunes to rocks and dirt, I love this tire.

The KM2 is not a snow tire, if you're concerned with snow/ice performance, you should consider an all season or all terrain type tire with siping. In snow it's fine, and plowed streets around my area are okay too. Icy roads are sketchy and not fun. I'm actually thinking about getting 35" studded snowys this coming winter season, but the selection is limited to ONE tire?!?

As for flares, my LX fit the 35" tires fine with flares on, at stock height and only minor rubbing. With a small lift you'll have no issues with 35s. 33s will look small because they are ;)

JWillie - I got these in May so have not tested on sleet/snow/slush mix but I don't have high expectations for them. This is not my DD so reasonable performance is all I am looking for.
A few pics for you. My tapemeasure and eyeball says the side of the lug is recessed 1.5"-2" from the edge of the flare.
