ill havea look in my stash for a 24v i know i have 8 12v ones.

That would be greatly appreciated. Last resort I could also put a 24V motor and control pack on an older 12V 8274. Let me know about the 24V. It’s going on an 83 42 I recently aquired.

If you find one I would be interested in one as well for my two 24v BJ's. However I called Warn directly a couple months back and they said they do not make a 24v motor for that winch.... which is a bummer because I bought a 12v 8274 thinking that I could retrofit with a 24v aftermarket motor.

WRN-8803 is the 24v motor that should fit the 8274. I've been reading up on them, and looks like there are still some out there.

Wow - you are correct... evidently the motor is aftermarket. Scott at Montana Jacks has everything you need for this conversion. He has the 24V motor for the 10,000 lb 8274 and the 24v truck contactor as well. Cost me about $515 and worth every penny. Just bought my kit and thank for helping me solve this puzzle!

I heard you can run a 12v on a 24v truck. It apparently runs twice as fast...

I have read this on multiple forms on this site as well. I don't have any personal experience with this. I don't know about the long-term reliability but it sounds like a quick fix. I was looking for something more long-term and replacing the motor seems to be much better than putting a separate dedicated 12 volt battery with digital maintainer.

I wheeled few cruisers with 12v 8274 motors on 24v systems and they run for years and have seen some abuse. The main weak point is is solenoids regardless of voltage. And indeed 8274 runs very fast on 24v system.
