I had to change my timing set due to it jumping a tooth. One of the Gateway Cruisers had asked me if it had bent any valves. After driving it a short while it developed a rather loud valve clatter at around 3k rpm so I decided to check the valve lash which was fine.I then decided to go ahead and pull the head off to see if there was any damage. There was nothing apparent at first, no signs of contact between valves and pistons. None of the rockers or valves had excessive play. I started to lap the valves to clean up the seats that were a little worn and discovered that #4 intake valve was indeed bent. My plans are to have the valves and seats reground and replace the one that was bent. I have checked the head deck surface and it won't need reground.
My question to you guys, is there anything else that I may be overlooking? My engine temp and oil pressure were both good upon tear down.
