I apologize in advance if this has been covered buried deep in a thread somewhere, I haven't been very active on these forums in the past year so I am out of the loop. Has anyone come up with a way to add the Off-Road/MTS hardware on a 2022+ GX?

Have you gone through the sticky thread on the forum main page?
460-Add Crawl Control (CC) and Multi Terrain Select (MTS) to 2010-2019 models/all trims
It's been mentioned, but since I have a 2013, I don't recall if there's been a resolution to that yet.
Good luck!

Yea I’m aware of the ‘19 and back solutions, I purchased the parts for our 2019 but never got around to adding it prior to selling it. I just haven’t seen any proof of one done in a ‘22+ and thought maybe someone has been working on it behind the scenes.

Worth askling periodically to see if anyone is working on this, or if it has been solved. At least others will know there is some demand for this niche solution.

i believe the 20 up, add essential components removed so mtm and mts are a no go.

With mtm, you can add the front cam from beatsonic or others.

I do have something of an update to provide, but it's not a good one unfortunately. I own a 23 GX Luxury, non-offroad, but with the multi-terrain monitor camera system.

If any 22+ GX was going to be able to easily upgrade to CC and MTS, it would have been mine. So I tried it. Purchased the switch module for ~150 bucks, pulled the center console stack, had to carefully extract the module which is really wedged in there tight next to the clock, put the MTS/CC module in, wiring is all there, but once it was reinstalled, no workie, even after multiple attempts doing a calibration with Techstream 18, using the correct Toyota procedure for a CC equipped truck.

The way I see it, there are two possibilities for why this isn't working. One is the previously mentioned ABS computer module, but from what I've seen the part descriptions don't support that. The other is that something about the calibration of the MTM system is different with the off road package. When I tried to calibrate the CC/MTS module, it caused the TCS, ABS, and MTM systems in my truck to all go inoperative until I reinstalled the factory hill descent module.

The fact that you couldn't purchase the off-road package without the MTM system was more than just bundling, they are integrated in some way we don't understand, and I believe that is the key to why we aren't able to make this work.

In any case, my Techstream subscription expired before I could investigate further, and until I can come up with another avenue to investigate that's where it sits.

Hey everyone,

After diving deep into the technical side of my 2023 GX460 Luxury with MTM (non-off-road package), I wanted to share my findings regarding the possibility of retrofitting Crawl Control and Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) into a 2022-2023 GX460 that came with Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) but not the full Off-Road Package.

Goal:
Add Crawl Control + MTS features to a 2023 GX460 that already includes:
  • Multi-Terrain Monitor cameras
  • Standard brake actuator and ABS system
What I Found:
  • The Crawl/MTS features are controlled by the ABS Modulator (Skid Control ECU).
  • There are three key ABS modulator part numbers:
    • 47217-60670: Found in standard GX460 (no Crawl/MTS)
    • 47217-60690: Found in Off-Road Package GX460 (includes Crawl/MTS logic)
  • My GX has 47217-60670 — which lacks the internal programming for Crawl Control.
  • The brake booster assembly part number also differs between trims (47050-60A10) for off-road package vs. (47050-60A00) for non off-road, but the true difference is in the ABS modulator unit.
Is It Possible?
Yes, it’s technically possible — but with real caveats:
  • You’d need to replace the ABS modulator (Skid Control ECU) with 47217-60690
  • Install and wire the OEM Crawl/MTS rotary switch
  • Run Techstream to bleed the system and perform Zero Point Calibration
  • Any mistake in bleeding could affect brake performance — this is not plug-and-play
  • These are just possibilities and they are never tested.
My Final Conclusion:

While I confirmed that the hardware swap could work, I ultimately decided not to proceed — mainly because:
  • My truck is nearly new (2023) and in perfect condition
  • Swapping the ABS modulator is invasive and risks introducing air into the brake system
  • Toyota doesn’t support this retrofit officially, and dealer support would be limited if something goes wrong
So for now, I’ll enjoy my MTM setup as-is — and maybe revisit this later down the line. Hope this helps anyone else who’s been wondering the same thing.

How do you know the part in bold? I agree that it's likely to be true, but likely and definitely are very different things when we're talking about an ~$800 gamble. Lexus parts departments generally don't allow return of computers or parts which contain computers. You can't buy the booster assembly without a skid control computer attached, so unless you've had the chance to physically examine both units I think we still don't know for certain if there's physical differences in the booster assembly, beyond the skid control computer.

If someone were to buy the MTS/CC skid computer and find out it's not compatible with the non MTS/CC brake booster assembly, they just wasted that money.

Sounds like a very wise decision. Wait about five years when the "newness" of it wears off and warranty wears out. Then maybe revisit this post!

I wonder if this is the same situation the Tundra boys are in. They can replace the blank with the dial for MTS and the main cluster will go through the modes but the last I check nobody can confirm if it does actually does anything. I never read anybody talking about the master cyl abs system.

I have replaced the hill descent switch on mine with the MTS/CC switch, done the zero point calibration, etc. Everything by the book, it got me nowhere, the GX just throws a bunch of DTCs and warning lights which can't be removed or turned off until you switch back. Basically installing that switch breaks the ABS, traction control, ATRAC, and the MTM camera system.

I've got all the fancy stuff, never use any of it. The GX is already awesome, so the tech feels like it's just there to make the trims different, not actually make it better. Enjoy your rig in its purest form.

I reached out to my local Lexus dealer with 2 Vin numbers, 22 Luxury w/ & wo/ off road package. Confirmed the brake booster assembly are 2 different part Numbers as mentioned in my previous reply. Also, found in the Lexus parts catalog with part description that there are only 3 types of assembly: 1. Standard 2. off-road package 3. Costa Rica Spec (Non-USA market). I do have access to the official dealer repair manual and circuit diagram. I looked up all the parts related to the functionality of MTS/Crawl, the only part with multiple variants is the brake booster assembly. Surprisingly, I found my 22 luxury non offroad came with existing wiring harness for the Crawl Knob. As the Knob wires directly to the skid control.
