Anyone gotten the call yet for their 2022 engine replacement? I know Toyota has replaced some of the Tundras already, but my dealership still gives me blank stares when I mention the recall.

I called my dealership last month. The replacement is available, but I was informed that there was no mileage or age limit on the recall. I'm having zero problems at 53k miles, and so plan to keep driving until 100k or so, and then get a new engine :)

Just a suggestion, I would get this in writing - email or terms that they could send you. Just in case they decide to "change their minds" in the future when you come back.

Thanks @Docyota! Good intel.

Clarifying question on the recall: So, the vehicle owner decides when they want to replace the engine and not Toyota?…assuming the engine performs fine and there’s no issue until the owner wants it replaced. Around 100k miles or 7-10 years sounds like a good timing.

That's what, I suppose, I should get in writing :)

The LS460 had a door padding problem, and Lexus was replacing it well into the 12 year mark. I'm a "trust everyone...and cut the deck yourself," kind of guy, so I might ask to see in writing the guarantee as MRego suggested. But I don't anticipate a major problem with a later replacement.

This makes buying a clean history one-owner used 2022-ish affected variants tempting!
The though crossed my mind several times, but then you have to be VERY confident in the labor provided by the Lexus dealer that will replace your block and be open to have a truck that could grenade at any time.

The 22/23 LX with the "get a free engine whenever you want card" is pretty appealing.

Imagine picking one of these up 5+ years from now from someone who never got it fixed and still has the original engine in it. It will be interesting to see how these particular units depreciate. I will be watching ;)
