Sad sad sad!!

Sad.....

They did announce this earlier in the year or at the end of last year but then slightly back tracked. Seems they decided to go with it. From what I remember the LX will live on though in some way.

Toyota kind of put the writing on the wall a while ago for the US.

I'd imagine this means that the already inflated values are going to go up again.

:meh:

Was always going to happen. It ran from 2007 to 2020 (2021 model year? idk) so it's already longer than the 60 or 80 production runs in this country.

The bronco was resurrected and even the Hummer is coming back. Maybe when it is reintroduced I will be able to afford a new one.

Who knows what 2021 and beyond will bring. It can’t be as bad as 2020. Wtf am I being so optimistic?!? Maybe I need to go see another doctor.

I wouldn't get to upset until you see an official press release from Toyota of North America. With that said, I'm with @GLTHFJ60 on this one. I think any news regarding Land Cruisers at the moment just deals with the discontinuation of the 200 series, not the LC brand as a whole. I could be wrong, but I hope I'm not.

The 200 series was bound for cancellation, it's the second longest on-going series that carries the Land Cruiser badge. Truth be told, we still don't know what Toyota has planned for their truck segment, nobody does.

Yes, it's been a terrible year, but don't give up hope just yet.

EDIT: I'm a dumbass, it's the second longest ongoing series. I forgot how long the 40 series ran for.

I think that between the Bronco being released and the onslaught of Jeep Wranglers and Gladiator Toyota is so far behind the eight ball it would take some kind of miracle to gain back market share. The 4RNR and Tacoma are very strong on their own but the Land Cruiser has not had big sales numbers for a very long time already. Best you can do is hold on to what you have and keep repairing and upgrading.

The largest LC dealer in the US posted this and said that people from Toyota drove out to his place to tell him personally. This guy is legit, so I take this as pretty solid info. And his description is not the end of the 200 series... that would be a logical and welcome change IMO, he says the LC is done in North America. Inevitable, maybe. Sad, definitely. I was really hoping the introduction of the HE 200 was a clue that Toyota was going to start offering a more practical and stripped down LC and leave the Lexus version in place for luxury. Pipedreams.

Then this happened:

and the thread got deleted. Unfortunaly, MUD probably lost a really good resource from the LC community over this. Not pointing fingers, but this is a testament to how quickly things go viral these days.

I thought it got deleted cause of the BS banter that was going on in that thread. Very interesting that TheDrive pulled from info from that and called him out..

Maybe... not sure on that tbh. But there was discussion about "you can now delete your own thread" so that's what I had figured. Feel bad for him, either way. Doubt he wanted his name on a rumor getting out like that.

I wanted to follow-up on this post. Autoweek, as well as a few other automotive news outlets, are starting to run with this story: Autoweek Article link.

Still no official news yet from Toyota of North America, but the LC is likely finished here for a while. There is no outright mention of the 300 series being introduced to the North American market. I would venture to guess, as has been said before, that the 300 will be introduced as part of the Lexus lineup.

EDIT: I just saw that Toyota confirmed with Road & Track that the Land Cruiser is being discontinued in North America.

With that, here's Scotty's take on it...

Anyone got the cliff notes for the video?? If I wanted to listen to a coked up meth head rambling I'd walk down third avenue. ;)

Sadly the LCs death in the states has has been written on the wall for a while and the official death was leaked a while back.

But hey there is hope maybe they will add another color to the trd pro tacoma next year??
Or maybe just maybe if we are all good they will release toyota overland patches..... yay.

Maybe toyota will redeem itself in my eyes and give us the Yaris GR here in the states.

Other than that if I was looking for a dead set DD brand new i'd go to toyota for a Camry or Corolla over just about anything out there..... but other than that nothing they currently make interests me at all.

If only we got the Yaris GR... That thing looks epic and a lot of fun.

I'm sure everyone saw this already, but . . rumors of a Grand Highlander.

Would be consistent with rumors to use this platform for a LX-like large SUV, as well.

Then . .maybe we get a GXL . . .
