It seems to me, once upon a time I read about the 200 series having a small electric heater in the hvac to provide warm air immediately at cold start up. Did I imagine this or is it in there? I checked the Google machine and I didn't see anything. Thanks guys and gals

There is a PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) heater at the base of the windshield known as the "wiper de-icer". You turn it on via Climate settings. From the first screen, touch the "REAR" button and when that page opens, the deicer touch pad is toward the bottom of the screen. I'd guess that air passing over the heater on passenger's side will be a bit warmer when it enters the A/C system.

How the heck did I not know about this feature? :bang:

I always warm up my cars before driving them (especially my cruisers), so sometimes I make the family sit there and freeze until coolant temps come up to run the heater. Looking forward to trying this.

Why don't modern vehicles all come with this? Seems like such a no brainer.

I wonder if it takes more electricity than lesser vehicles can easily generate or something. Usually electric heat is a pretty huge power draw... I dunno.

my guess would be cost?!?!

Ya... But when you can get a super-hot heat-gun for $20 bucks...I wonder...

I guess every 20 bucks counts these days... Poor Toyota 'n all... ;)

I am often amazed at what car companies leave off over a couple bucks. An example... Toyota could easily stick a magnet by the tailgate cable. SUGGESTION BOX ALERT! :hillbilly:

Speaking of that...
Easy FIX: Annoying Tailgate Cable
