Howdy to all you wonderful people!

I'm actually about ready to finally acquire the dream vehicle, but having a problem with the dealers here in central Florida (Tampa area). I know that's not a surprise to anyone, but it would be nice to actually have a good experience. :-)

It seems that every dealer either ignores you, after stating you are interested in a Land Cruiser, or tries to convince you that because these are such lauded and rare creatures it's simply an honor to pay full price (including the bloated port installed items).

Is anyone aware of a good dealer to work with in the area that will actually gives a reasonable deal (close to invoice) and will attempt to treat you with respect?

Search all dealers within 200 miles and work with internet department. Got $1000 over invoice in Nov within two days of starting research. I am sure you can do better now. Good Luck!

Buy one in Oklahoma at Jim Norton Toyota, they will work out a good deal with you!

Oklahoma may be a bit far, not that it wouldn't be a great road trip. It sounds like I'll probably have to do the internet department thing in mass. I've tried a couple and they literally haven't responded back after I say I'm looking for a Land Cruiser.

Also consider using the car buying services from your bank, Costco or insurance carrier. USAA's program is fantastic.

I think those programs are way behind the curve for limited production vehicles. I looked into USAA's program a few weeks ago and they quoted 80,500 for a 2016 LC. Even the local dealers publicly advertised for under that. Those programs are fine for high volume vehicles IMO but not for LC's.

I just contacted them. They were proud to show me their super competitive price for a black / black 2016 LC....$85,020.

Competitive?
Ya...but then in every "competition..."
...there is a loser. ;)

So, it was a very busy week. The dealer I talked to, and walked away from, on Saturday came back the next day offering their black/tera for a much better price (about 1,300 above invoice). However, I just really didn't want black. So, I did a search in all of Florida for others available and found a grey one, just off the truck, at AutoNation in the Ft. Lauderdale area. I was able to negotiate about 5,000 off their list price, but my excitement to get the color I wanted (and it only had 3 miles) was just too much to push it further.

So, I think the advice about walking away is right on. They are not near as attached to these things as they all say (and say in a strangely consistent way).

Anyhow, I'm definitely in love with my grey/tera now!

You're gonna love your Cruiser!
Gongrats!

My new favorite color is grey.
Silver was always my favorite and the color of my built 100 series,
but GREY has grown on me.

Anyway, good for you. :)

Yes. Grey is definitely the best. I come from a long line of grey cars now: 2015 Grand Cherokee Summit, 2012 535xi, 2011 F150 Platinum, 2008 335i Coupe and 2005 4Runner Limited.

I think I have a problem. ;-)
