Were any US spec 200 series given the GX-R trim? I'm looking at one that has a 5.7, 6AT, and all the normal bells and whistles, yet somehow has GX-R on it?

That's what I thought. Weird for someone to badge it like that
If there were any differences like 17" wheels, no nav, etc. we certainly won't be able to tell from that one zoomed in pic on the badge. I'd add some more photos if you want more help. You don't need to post the link if you're afraid someone is going to poach it, but we can't help any more than guessing it's a stuck on badge.
You can check the VIN to see if there is any sales history as to where it's been.

People put factory stickers and emblems on cars all the time.

If this is at a VW? dealership in TX (Houston I think) I ran the vin on one there w the same badging and it has been a TX vehicle its whole life, and thus prev owner put that on.
