The NAV must be updated at a dealer, and it costs about $300 all in. The procedure is you buy an update authorization from the parts department and then the shop hooks up their Techstream computer and over the course of about 45 minutes updates the software.

There is no "SD card" update - indeed there is no place to insert one in our NAV system. Not sure what it is you purchased, but it won't work.

The dealer parts department said this was all I needed..... jackasses. Every freakin car I have owned in the last 15 years allowed the owner to update the nav, hell even my BMW did...

One of the Lexus parts counter guys couldn’t even find the front pads to fit my IS350. IMO the parts dept leaves a lot to be desired in “the pursuit of perfection”.

Late models of the 200 ('16+) can be updated with a micro SD card plugged into the dash, but the data is downloaded from Garmin, it doesn't come on the card. The owner can do it, with enough patience. Perhaps the dealer was confused about which procedure is used for which year. However, full disclosure, I have not done this. I only read about doing it. All my nav is done with Google maps on an iPad that covers the nav screen when underway.

I realize this is a bit old, but I was not able to find much online. how exactly do you update the map?
