Hello,

This would be my second LX570 and have had 100 series as well. Had a 2008 we kept until 140K miles and was super reliable as you would expect. Should I be concerned about purchasing a 2014 with 165K miles? It is southern owned (no rust) and has full records. If it was a 100 series wouldnt think twice, but should I have any concerns buying a 200 with miles that high?

Getting a pre-purchase inspection done at a Toyota dealer today so will see what they say. Any guidance appreciated.

Thanks,
C

Depends on the cost and condition. There are folks on this forum with 250-300k on their 200-series. I'd expect they'll end up running as long as a 100-series. But there have also been cases of engines blown at 58k miles or other edge cases. A good PPI is really key, and check the maintenance records on the Toyota Owners site against the VIN

Have you entered in the vin into the Lexus Driver’s website? What was the date it was put I to production?

Assuming 7 or 8 years (if you don’t COVID lockdown year) that’s either 23k/year or 20k/year.

Safe to say those are mostly highway. As a point of reference, my ‘15 has 77k miles.

My buddy recently bought a ‘13 with 140k miles at $30k. I’m guessing this truck is at $27-30?

I have, lots of dealer records pulled up. Only thing concerning was that there was a mention of an oil leak when it was turned in at current dealer. I paid for a prepurchase inspection at a Toyota dealer and they noted the same. Oil leak somewhere but unsure of source. I haven’t spoken to the tech yet - will do it in morning. Asking price is 35k. Prices for these cars is nuts right now…

35k for a 1.5 gen (2013-2015) with those miles with a perfect PPI would be reasonable. With an unresolved oil leak? Not so much.

If you don’t mind high mileage, the better buy is a 2008-2012. The 1.5 gens are commanding a hefty premium right now with no real improvements other than HID headlights and a higher resolution TFT screen in the instrument cluster.
