is there any way to enable the LED strip in the 2014 LC200 to always be on as the DRL instead of the 9005 high beam/drl?

I've the same question too. I heard my salesman told me that if you switch your headlights mode to auto it will automatically turn on the drl but it seems like not working for me. Any idea how to turning it on separately?

On US spec 200's the DRLs are controlled under vehicle customization lighting in the head unit. The DRLs are dimmed high beams. In other parts of the world Toyota uses the LED strip under the headlights as the DRLs and there is a switch to operate them.

Check Custimization under Settings for DRLs.

There is no known way to use the LEDs as DRLs in the Auto position. You can first disable the DRLs. Then use the Parking lights during the way, which will illuminate the LEDs. Then switch to Low at night.

Edited to clarify.

But if you switch on the Low, your tail lights will be turn on as well. My 200 is japan spec. Couple friends of mine are telling me that to pull another wire directly out from the starter so it will automatically turn on when I start the car but I'm still figuring out if there's another way to turn it on.

Parking during the day, Low at night.

I am sure there's a solution out there, but I'll let you pull wires first. Keep us posted.

Check your manual. There's a custom setting on mine that can be used to deactivate DRL. Perhaps yours is set to off...

My DRLs are set to off, yes.

Oops. Meant that response for the OP...but good that you confirm the custom setting. Wonder if the Japanese spec cruiser is same. I would assume they include the option, unless it's illegal or something....

So I've been through the setting tab. Unfortunately there's no way I can turn the drl on or maybe the led strip wasn't made for drl. The only setting in my Lights setting are:
Brightness of the light
Interior light dimming time
Exterior light dimming time

So i guess the only choice is to pull another wire directly from my car starter?
