I'm a bit late, but consider this a general update with some miscellaneous ramblings for good measure.
THE NEA:
As expected this weekend the NEA voted to raise their dues incrementally to $10 per member over the next 2 years. (From the current $5/year now to $7 per year in 2010 and $10/year in 2011)
There are imperative, financial reasons to do this that I agreed with and voted for. I'd be happy to expand on them if anyone wants to get into the nitty gritty. This doesn't effect us at all as we prepared for this last year by upping our dues slightly. In fact, I see no reason why YT should have to raise it's dues again for the foreseeable future.
FALL GATHERING 2010:
We'll be putting together a committee soon to commence with the planning. As the recession rolls on I think it's smart to do a bit more "grassroots" event next year and I look to scale back a few things this year to save the club and it's members a bit of money.
This will involve much discussion and back and forth but I think there are areas where we can save and still keep the event as social and fantastic as always.
As always, we will need LOTS of volunteers for before, during and after the event. Look for future, FG-specific thread on this.
2010 WHEELING CALENDAR:
Please see this link: https://forum.ih8mud.com/ma-nh-yankee-toys/339043-2010-wheeling-schedule.html For the continually updated list of official wheeling dates. We hope to add to it as spring approaches and welcome any ideas, suggestions, or volunteers.
CLUB OFFICERS:
As we do every April, club officers will be up for reelection at the April meeting and I strongly encourage anyone who is interested to step up and get involved. Every organization needs fresh leadership now and then, it keeps the new ideas and action flowing.
CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to the Club's officers and advisers who have been so crucially involved in the growth and success of the Club. Sheri, Jason S., Jim, Lane, Jason P., Randy, and so many others work their butts off, share their ideas and suggestions, and always step up to the plate to get things done.
Let's have a great 2010!
