Kind of looks like we have ventured far away from the threads main topic--"2008 Styling..." For me the answer has to be ---"Until I see it in the flesh I cannot give an accurate answer as to whether I like or dislike it. The pictures I have seen of it thus far have raised some serious questions though!" There...That about covers it for me !!!!

Hold the road in corners at speed.

Not to nit-pik......but cornering is only one aspect of "handling". The typical lifted 80 does zip around a corder faster than a typical lifted 100 mostly because the spring rates are higher in the 80 (mainly the front).

In every other handling "sub-cat" the 100 blows the 80 away.

Steering
Reaction to bumps
Highway ride...lane changes, rutted roads, etc
etc.
Braking
Emergency handling
etc
etc

That's fine. I was using "handling" to mean cornering. If that definition is too narrow, I'm okay with that. I thought the meaning of my comment was pretty clear from the context of my post.

Lol I wonder if it's some sort of EGR malfunction.....

Pretty bad when a vehicle that isn't even in production has a check engine light.

Yes I am not being serious.

The LX570 is a hideous looking pos. I'm ok with the back and the rest of the styling but untill you get to the headlights...............

In this pic, the LandCruisers front end looks very nice.

And what I like about this pic is the front face just screams "LandCruiser"

VX??! IS the LandCruiser going to be available in different trim levels such as the Arabian LandCruisers? The picture has plenty of proof pointing out its a USDM LC.

Has not been the case in the US. The demand here is clear.

But I want to know why they put the VX grade badge on the tailgate?

I have to agree. Those surveys are often distorted.
If a LR has 3 times more faults than a Toyota, that is fine by me. I 'll gamble the 'small likelihood' of reliability for a nicer ride. The trade-off is well worth it for many people.

I hear bashers say, "your truck will be in the shop every week. " So does that mean a 07-08 Land Cruiser will be in the shop, every other week?. This is why those surveys don't amount to much.

I currently own a Range Rover Sport and it has never given me problems. Same with all my rovers. As for land cruiser, I own a fj40 (formerly a fj60), so I can't comment on the reliability of the newer one.
I'm always on the look-out for a FJZ80 which means I am not loyal to one camp.

You can't determine the statistical reliability of a new vehicle with a new drive train. I hope the 08 5.7 v8 models resolve all the broken camshaft issues that the new Tundra is experiencing.

But the surveys show only a 40% increased number of faults per hundred vehicles more than average or thereabouts. If the average is ten faults per hundred vehicles per year then the RR only suffers fourteen. If the average is 15 faults then the RR averages about 21 faults PER HUNDRED VEHICLES. Your survey, I didn't post it. I doubt you understood it or its implications. Not many do. They have to post these things to look dramatic or the media would pay them the little attention they deserve.
Given a similar price I would have no hesitation in comparing a new Range Rover on equal terms to a new Land Cruiser. You would not. That is your choice. In differnt times I have no doubt you would be equally biassed against anything foreign and especially Japanese.

What I know about LR reliability comes from the woman who used to own my 80. She bought an LR in 2005 and 6 months later she wanted her 80 back. That LR was dog and it was in the shop more than on the road. Last I heard she was trying to get her $$$ back under the Lemon Laws.

IMO as a rover owner. There are two basic things behind almost all landrover problems.

1. Build quality. Honda sold some discovery's in japan badged as "Honda Crossroad". But before delivery they stripped and checked them. Statistics for those vehicles are far removed from the equivalent year discovery.

2. They are designed and built in a different way to your average japanese (and probably US) car. As a result many mechanics can't get their head around how things fit and don't get the problems fixed right first time.

I suppose there is also a #3. Lucas Electrics.

But the design of the vehicles is truely ahead of the pack. The rangerover chassis which was released in 1969 was fulltime 4wd with coilsprings and disc brakes on all corners. It is still used in the current defender.
Toyota's 80 series chassis and suspension is a very close relation yet was designed about 25 years later.
The japanese copy and improve. They are very good at that.

Except they haven't put one of those nice and fat Discovery steering wheels into a LandCruiser yet.

It's touches like that that the English are truely great at. The japanese do gadgets instead.

My neighbor just got one of these... I think its called a highlander.
I know it'll grew on me but for now, wack. And my god you guys spend so much time "discussing" cruiser stuff on this forum. Go spend some time with your families. :flipoff2:
