I'm new to this so I'm hoping I'm asking this in the correct place.

I have a 2008 LX570, I unintentionally unplugged the front passenger wheel speed sensor when I replaced my ball joints/control arm bushings. When I went to go start the car a bunch of lights came up on my dash (traction control, ABS, CHECK VCS SYSTEM, and a blinking center Dif light). I scanned it for codes and they came back as C0200 (front speed sensor circuit) C1783 (speed sensor signal malfunction) and B2415 (Vehicle speed sensor). I attempted to reset the codes but it wouldn't clear. Again, all I did was unplug the sensor, I didn't mess with anything else. I've checked the basic ABS/VSC related fuses.

I ordered a new sensor and replaced it, didn't fix the codes so I sent the new sensor back.

The local mechanic is booked for almost 6 months out, anyone had a similar problem? Any ideas or leads?

Thanks

General procedure would be to replace the sensor and then clear codes. Was the original speed sensor damaged? When you unintentionally unplugged it did the wire break or stretch? Did the sensor pull out of it's cavity or was the cable just unplugged? I imagine the cable or the sensor could have been damaged. The sensor is bolted into the housing, so it might be ok. Worth checking both of the contacts in the wire connector. Similarly, it's worth checking the "wire" end of the connector. I would also test connectivity of the wire on each end with a multimeter to ensure that the wire isn't damaged. If you didn't unbolt the sensor, it may have been stretched to the point of destruction.

If you cleared the code before repairing, it is not a surprise that it didn't' fix the codes.

The "wire" part number for the passenger side is 8951660250. The passenger side sensor part number is 8954260050.

I replaced the sensor and then attempted to clear the codes, no luck. It didn’t stretch and all the wires seem to be in the right place. When I say I unintentionally unplugged it I meant that I didn’t realize I didn’t need to unplug the sensor to pull the LCA. So it wasn’t forced off or anything, it was just simply unplugged.

I will check the wire end tomorrow with a multimeter. The sensor I checked with a multimeter and it didn’t read anything, but also the new one and the driver side didn’t read anything so that might just be how they are, I’m not to sure. I’ll make sure to clean everything really good and give it another go.

Thanks for your help!
