2007 Land Cruiser

Anyone have a 2007, and if so how do you like it? I don't know much about the differences between the years, but I know the 07 is the last year of the 100 series. I am considering trading in my 2007 FJ Cruiser on one.

The 06 and 07 are exactly the same. I've got an 06 LX470 and I love it!! It is by far the BEST car/truck I have ever owned. I've had 22K of worry free miles so far. I'm so impressed with this rig that I'm looking to buy an LC (03-05) to replace our other car.

Get one! You will not be disappointed.

Bought an 07 two weeks ago. the 06 an 07 are identical but there are some engine related changes, the HP was downgraded from 275 to 265. I don't know whether this was because of the change to SAE net ratings or it was just a minor downgrade. I believe the torque numbers were revised a little downward as well (from 332 to 310 lb-ft) but the tow rating did not change. Before someone on the board slams me on this, I have both the 06 and 07 TLC brochures where this is specifically stated.

This is my first toyota and the rig is definitely impressive. If you've got dealers with a demo or floor model, or 07 inventory you can get a great deal on a new one. Otherwise I don't see any issues with an 06, that is what I was actually looking for till I stumbled on the 07.

There are definitely advantages and disadvantages to both. I have three concerns with my FJ. Since mine is the earlier production run, it falls in with the bad R&P gearsets in the diffs. Also there is the problem of the transfer case sticking in 4L, and now the MT6 (which I have), is starting with problems with the throw out bearing.

Since I have no time to deal with any of these things if they break, even if covered by warranty, I just want to eliminate the potential problems in one movement. My FJ has not experienced anything major. The transfer case has stuck in 4L a few times, but I was always able to get it out after a few minutes of messing around with it. The other two items are just waiting to happen (blown gearset and throw out bearing).

There are two other options. 1) Try to convince the dealer to correct these items on my current FJ. Not the best idea however though since I need transportation. 2) Trade in on a 2008 FJ Cruiser.

Trading my 2007 FJ in on a 100 is something I am looking at. It also depends on what kind of deal my local guy can make me. I've bought three 4wd vehicles from this guys family, I am hoping they will make a deal.

I have only ridden in a FJC once, and my immediate impressions were (1) extremely poor visibility out the rear quarter and front windshield and (2) cheap interior plastic (at least I noticed the lever to open the door seemed to made of plastic that you see on domestics. Even my honda prelude has a much better fit & finish than the FJC (and costs less $$ than the FJC), and that pales in comparison to the fit & finish on my 100. On the plus side, I would rate the advantages as the exterior having bold styling and lots of accessories available. One thing you'll notice about the 100 is that visibility is very good in all directions, the driver's seating position is upright (good posture for long drives) and has a commanding view of the road, side windows are large. No blind spots except under the rear window, but the '07 LC has the rear camera, so no worries.

I love my 2007. We had a 2000 fresh from the showroom and it was great for seven years. Looked at a lot of other cars this past October, and went back to old faithful. The NAV is a great upgrade since my 2000 didn't have it. Other than that and the bigger engine, feels like the same great reliable truck. I test drove the FJ, just too small in my opinion....especially with three kids.

'06 and '07 Land Cruisers make me happy in the pants. They're friggin' beautiful pieces of machine.

Ive driven a 6spd FJC around nyc & from NY to CO, and the one thing i really dont like about the FJ is the lack of visibility like you mentioned. My 100 Has some of the best vis out of any vehicle ive driven. Its funny, the endless amount of accessories compared to the 100 has me drooling over FJC stuff...im always telling my buddy to get this, get that and the other thing. But honestly, I enjoy the more refined driving feel of the 100...and both are extremely capable off road in stock form.

2000 and 2007 have the same size engine...btw. Just the 06/07 have the VVT-i which helps squeeze out that extra juice, plus the new ones have the 5speed, which helps it off the line a little better.

According to LC mag, the '03+ LC (at least the JDM version) has a slightly larger displacement to give it an extra ~5hp over its predecessors. That I guarantee no one will notice. What you will notice is the 5 speed vs. 4 speed, especially if towing, using larger tires, or starting up a steep hill. If I have time, I'll try to find the LC history issue w/ all the changes in years.
