Hello Everyone,

My first post, I've been lurking and reading. Finally bought a Land Cruiser this weekend. Its a 2007 LC with 134k miles.

I have an issue that I found this weekend. I actually noticed it when I bought it but I assumed I just didn't know what I was doing.

The truck automatically retracts the tilt column back and up when you remove the key however when you re-insert it it does not go back to the position it had been adjusted to. It does come back down but to some unknown (higher) location. I've looked through the owners manual and it reads that the column should return to the previous position. Mine does not and since I'm short I have to manually put it back into a drivable position. This is going to get old real quick if I have to do this every time I get in the truck. using the manual (switch) adjustments I don't hear any weird noises and the motor seems to run just as it should. Other than not returning to its previous position it seems to be operating normally.

Am I doing something wrong here? I do not believe I have any memory presets it should just work as the manual states. I did some searching but it mostly lead me to motor failures. I didn't see anything about this issue I am having.

I'd also be happy to disable this feature in the long run. I currently own a Tactrix cable for my Subaru. Would then my best bet be Techstream?

Thanks

You can have the dealer turn that feature off, then you can set the steering wheel and forget it but the adjustment controls for it will still work, just not the auto function.
The motor for that dies and you'll be stuck with the wheel where ever it is when the motor dies.
It is common for that motor to fail.

Ha! Mine does the exact same thing! I have an 06 LX. My telescoping does not work (see post above, lol) but the tilt works fine. I prefer it in the farthest down position when I drive. When I shut it off, it goes to the farthest "UP" position, but then when I get back in, it goes maybe 2/3 of the way down and stops....everytime. I always have to lower it the rest of the way, even though I have set the memory function numerous times to the lowest position. The up and down motor works just fine on mine and I always suspected it was just a safety thing like "We will let you put the wheel all the way down, but we are not going to do it for you....in case the airbag causes a chest injury in the farthest down position, it's on you, not us" type of thing. Interested to see if this is what all the 06-07's (or even all 100's) do or if its just a weird thing that we have going on. Personally, its not a big deal for me. I've just gotten used to get it, start truck, hit wheel down button. If I also had to adjust the telescope part, that would prob get annoying, but down only hasn't drove me crazy yet.

If I ever get my Techstream up and running, I'll try disabling this feature, but honestly, I have beefy upper legs and it makes getting out/in easier, altho I am defiantly always concerned the up/down motor is also going to crap out and leave the wheel like I'm driving a school bus.

You can turn this feature off with Techstream.

The manual leads me to believe it is not working as it should.

Can someone tell me the best place to get setup with Techstream? Ebay?
