2007 FJ Cruiser Product Reference Guide

This is the 40 page University of Toyota manual that is used for training salespeople on the FJ Cruiser. It presents an overview, features, components, advantages and specifications clearly laid out and in plain english.

The manual is in PDF format, so you'll need Adobe Acrobat to view it. The guide is 7 megs, and broadband is recommended.

The guide is located on the FJ Cruiser Owners Group site HERE.

Hmm. A few problems:

"Of all the Land Cruisers ever built, the 1961-1965 FJ 40 series is undoubtedly the most iconic. It's simple, two-box hardtop with wrap around rear windows and dual swing-out doors is instantly recognizable. "

The person who wrote this dribble doesn't know what he (or she) is talking about. He just described every *J40 except the 61-65. The two door rears didn't come out until 1975.

"Today, there are more FJ 40-series models still running than any other off-road vehicle."

No, there's not. The sheer number of jeeps and other brands make this a false statement.

"It was this heritage on which the new 2007 FJ Cruiser was concieved and designed."

The FJ40 was designed as purpose built for a multitude of tasks (including military). The FJ Cruiser was the other way around- built off of another platform for... Well, there really isn't any purpose.

For instance, who has ever seen a 2WD Cruiser? I've seen a picture of a Japanesse pamphlet with a 2wd FJ28, but otherwise?

"Did you know? FJ Cruiser was designed for the American Market by Toyota's Calty Design Studios in New Port Beach, California."

Hmm.... Kinda the opposite of how Land Cruisers are designed for other markets and then adapted for the US.

"Did you know? The "FJ" portion of the FJ Cruiser's name was adopted because of the internal code name for the Land Cruiser and was also the name most hard-core off-road enthusiasts used to affectionately refer to the Land Cruiser's original FJ 40 series."

I love this rhetoric. Notice how even in this brochure they seperate the designation FJ from 40, as if it authenticates the name FJ Cruiser itself. It pays no attention to the fact that the F was originally an engine designation (the H came out in what, 1976?).

An advantage listed for the FJ Cruiser: "FJ offers a 2WD model (not available on Wrangler"

Advantage to whom?

More myths for sales drones to perpetuate.

Why didn't they get soemone to write that brochure that actually knew something about Toyota's "heritage vehicle" ?

Wonder what else they missed!

I gotta say I laughed my a$$ off when I saw it but I work in the computer industry so the spoof was appreciated by me far more than it was by some of my hockey buddies.

If you are interested in the original... (think 'language translation' issues when watching)

Might be poorly translated Japanese.

Also keep in mind that NA is a teenie portion of the Toyota market.

LR.Disco1 had it right.

It's quite silly. And the bumper stickers have been flying off the shelves.

Its a fluff piece from marketing - what do you expect? At least TMS is attempting to inject some historical information into the sales stream - like everyone here I'd prefer it to be correct. The FJ is spurring some interest in the FJ lineage - even if the truck has disappointed some.

NA is a teenie portion of the Toyota market.?

1995 - Sales - NA 1.1 million, Japan 2.1, Worldwide 4.5

2004 - Sales - NA 2.3 million, Japan 1.7, Worldwide 6.7

I'm just glad Toyota is producing something fun? Whens the last time we could say that?

Some people get it, some people don't. Same as everything else.

I'm not young but I think it's great and shows that Toyota has a sense of humour and that they are clever enough to adapt the slogan for a internal marketing brochure that will be read by the young men and women that will be selling the FJC to the target market.

Very clever indeed!

Thing is -- That's not Toyota doing it. It's FJCownersgroup.
