2006 tacoma mud flap problem

my tacoma's front mud flaps are cracking badly after no off road use. i am considering taking them off. anyone else with this problem and/or solution?

I didn't have a problem with mine on the Tundra but when I bought it I had the OEM's removed and I had a set of 4 cloud riders installed...much heavier duty
The downside is they are screwed into the sheetmetal..not original mounting holes

I took mine off - problem solved.
