Hi everyone,

I want to lift my 2006 Land Cruiser. It came with the self-leveling suspension option that seems to have thrown a wrench in my plans to do it easily and quickly.

I am considering a medium load 2.5 inch Old Man Emu lift kit. After the lift, it's new 33s and an ARB roof rack.

I need some ideas on how to best address the self leveling suspension option that came on the 2006.

I mainly want to be able to get the 33s under it and add a bit of extra height; the lift kit is not a requirement if this can be accomplished in a different manner.

I love this vehicle and want to lift it the most professional way. I plan on having it a long time.

All suggestions are welcome and many thanks for your advice.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I an running stock 275/60/18 tires. There are some good tire options, but there dont seem to be a lot of options for the 18 inch rims like you would see for 16 or 15 inch rim sizes.

First off Welcome to IH8MUD

Second, Search is your friend.......use it.

Thirdly to answer your questions:

You can mount 33in tires without a lift on the 100, most guys go with a 285/75R16 if they are not lifted. At that size, you wont have any wheel rub.

You can go a little wider or taller if you want, but you might rub.

There are two ways to lift your LC;
First you could scrap AHC and just install traditional shocks and springs. Several guys have done this and they are happy with the results.

The other option is to install an AHC override switch that Slee offroad sells. This will allow you to keep the suspension in High, thus giving you two inches of lift. However, if you do this, you will want to crank the T-bars and maybe add spring spacers in the rear to minimize the pressure on AHC.

As pman stated, you can fit up to 33" tires easily without any lift on a stock 100. Many people (including myself) are running the BFG Goodrich AT in 295x75x16 which are a over sized 33" and have zero rubbing issues.

What size are your wheels right now, I'm guessing 18" or 19" since it's a 2006?

Now if you want additional load capacity, then lifted springs come along for the ride regardless.

I'm currently running a Michelin 275/60/18

I would suggest BFG Goodrich AT KO in 285/65/18 size. Those are 33's, and will fit with the stock suspension. If you want to go a little larger tire, add a lift, and maybe 1" spacers in the front then 305/65/18.

How much extra weight are you planning on hauling around daily? Just an ARB roof rack?

If he goes that far, he might as well bite the bullet and go for 35s. He could do a 325/65R18 like Slee's LX.

You'll have to ask Slee for the specifics, but this 100 has an AHC lift (i.e. the override i mentioned), spacers in front, and is running 325s (34.6in)

Thats also an important consideration.

Thanks for the reply Anthony.

On a daily basis, I will have the ARB rack only. We camp some on the weekends, but nothing heavy duty weight wise.

In a nutshell, I want to get about 2" of lift and a 33" tire. I like the height of the LC when I have the height control set to HIGH. This gives me about 2" lift, but as you know the vehicle drops back down to normal height at about 15mph.

I have been advised I could pull the fuse on the hydraulic leveler pump, remove the hydraulic shocks and seal the hoses off. Then add the OME lift kit as if the vehicle never had the system at all. Does this sound reaasonable?

I'd like to find the lowest impact way to get a little height. Once I get the height, the tires are easy.

This is my second car, I have an old beat up Honda I brive to work daily(205K miles and still rollin).

Thanks for your help,

Ray

The look of the above white Slee LC is what I'm looking for. That's a great looking Cruiser.

If thats the case, then you dont need to worry about weight when lifting

That is one way to do it, several have done the exact same thing. Whether its reasonable depends on how much you want to spend and how much you want to alter the vehicle from stock

The lowest impact way......as in the least changes to the vehicle is by installing the override i mentioned earlier, that will keep the height control in HIGH, regardless of how fast you go.

Its on the right side, it says LX470, but the system is identical in both
Slee - Electrical Switches

Take care of your LC and itll easily do more than 205K

The picture of the Slee's 100 is great looking, but it has more than 2" of lift and 35s.........but yes it does damn good:D

Anyone know if Atturo trail blade in LT305/60R18 33x12.5R18LT will fit stock?

Might be tight without a little bit of lift.

I am pretty sure my 2006 LC had AHC to begin with.

Funny story..... I bought my LC used and always thought, man, it is raised up more than stock I think.

As busy as I was with the purchase of the rig, during the sale, I never asked if it was stock or not.

When I got it home, I found the OME Nitrocharger shocks and the OME torsion bars and rear springs as well !

I will have to see what size tires it has on it now, but I think they are a little less than 33's.... It definitely could use some 33 or 34's (the jury is still out on 35's for me as I don't want a bunch of rub at full lock and even worse mileage.... but I may still go that way)

All I can say is how much I love how it rides and handles with the OME lift. I am quite sure I have the medium rear springs. It rides nice even with a hatch full of junk and it doesn't squat down.

I have OME torsions and Slee heavies in the rear with the AHC delete. I have 285/65/18 BFG AT's. They are not a 33 inch tire and are small looking. They came on the truck when I got it. I will never put enough miles on the truck to wear them out. I want to go with Nitto 275/70/18. It is a true 33/10.5 inch tire. I'm trying to convince the wife that the current tires have flat spots from the previous owner not driving the truck enough. ;)

I just bought a 2006 LC with the AHC and really dont like the way it looks stock, want to lift but Im told its problematic , can you override and keep suspension at highest level add lift kit and all Good? Im mechanically illiterate when it comes to autos.. need help
